Our client is an independent Christian charity, and a registered provider of social housing, affiliated to the national and international movement.  With a turnover approaching £7m, we provide accommodation for 300 young people, many of whom have experienced homelessness, and support them to get their lives back on track.  We also run two children’s nurseries, manage two community centres with conferencing facilities and deliver a range of business to business training, all of which create employment opportunities and deliver income for our charitable work.

With over 150 Staff and volunteers working for us, the Finance team plays a critical role in the financial success of the charity

We are looking for a Financial Controller who is commercially focused to join our busy finance department.  The successful candidate will be accountable for the day to day activities of the finance team ensuring that it is organised and efficient in producing accurate financial and management information and advice to the business.

To support the IT Access Management that provide the delivery of the end to end creation of users’ role-based access.

Coordinating with the Managed Service provider and assisting in software implementation and service changes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Work as part of the team promoting the business and maintaining the company’s reputation and standards
Management of the finance function and overseeing the finance team and lead on day to day financial activities including analysis, Fixed Asset Register, VAT whilst supporting and developing their careers to add value to the organisation
Experience in IT support, including but not limited to troubleshooting issues, coordinating with the Managed Service Provider, training employees and assisting in software implementation and service changes
Preparation of monthly management accounts, Income and Expenditure, Balance Sheet, KPI’s and reporting pack
Analytical review of key financial ratios and revenue expenditure patterns
Preparation of budgets, forecasts and cashflows
Control of financial ledgers and accounting processes
Ensuring compliance deadlines are met for Tax and VAT returns
Assist with Statutory accounts, including group consolidation and audit engagement
Insurance
Continuous improvements of the financial controls to streamline processes and reduce errors and inconsistencies.
Assisting the groups external provider with the running of payroll
Travelling to multiple of the sites to engage with budget holders and ascertain elements that can improve analytical insight.
Experience in software implementation and ERP systems.

Requirements Finance

Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) with previous financial control and management reporting experience.
Commercial aware and able to take broad business level view as well as provide technical solutions
Have strong business partnering skills with experience of liaising with stakeholders at all levels
Analytical and problem solving skills
Exceptional communication skills
Ability to manage priorities, tasks and relationships in a dynamic, culturally diverse environment
Be ambitious and driven to work proactively in an ever-changing environment
Experience of audit or financial control implementation
Excellent understanding of balance sheet analysis, credit risk, financial exposure Experience management a team within an accounting function
Solid understanding of accounting software’s principles
Undertake other work as may be required
